Around 1 pm, on my lunch after dropping off the mini-vac that I sold on eBay at the shipping center in downtown Detroit, I was able to contact the Michigan Department of Taxation regarding the notice of Intent to Assess that I recieved in the mail. I spoke with the nicest lady who told me exactly what I needed to do. The end of that story is that I likely won't end up owing anything, I just have to file two forms.
She was so nice I insisted on speaking with her supervisor that I could give her a compliment. She seemed to have no problem putting me through to him.
Hence, the title of this post. I have been in low-grade stress since I received this notice. The tax department's website is not exactly user-friendly.
I've linked to another personal finance/lifestyle blog on Blogger. She writes well and was a guest writer on Making Sense of Scents here.
