2nd October 2018 Daily Report

10:50 AM Tried calling State Department of Taxation about this intent to assess form I received in the mail. Got the confusing phone menu thing. I need to hit the website tonight.

1737 I didn't make my daily goal at work. We are literally slowing down. This may be a separate blog post.

2220 Applied for another job, this time at Sears for seasonal customer service. This place is not too far from the house. This would fit my schedule pretty well.

Terrible commute back from work. The SMART system has a website AND an iOS app to tell you when your bus will arrive at your location, but apparently it wasn't working too well today. I waited 45 minutes outside my building after work, all the while being told my bus was 2 minutes away. Very frustrating.

I've started rebuilding my Google calendar. My work hours, commute and sleep schedule are currently blocked off. It leaves about 3 hours during the the evenings for GTD (getting things done.) Looks like a second job will involve loss of sleep, which probably won't be much of a problem. I think I only average about 5 hours a night presently, when the dog doesn't wake me up. I've tried using the calendar on my iPhone, but it's nice having a weekly view available on a computer screen. Apple's iCloud calendar functionality is severely lacking, but I can tie reminders in to Google Calendar using IFTTT. I highly recommend this service to anyone curious about it.

Follow-up thoughts to my 1737 entry: my work set high goals during August while we had a large amount of work to do. During September the amount of work dropped drastically and I only hit about 75% of my monthly goal. I really want to do well, but the metric is off. They say adjustments will be made, but I'm taking a wait and see attitude about that. If I can maintain my current goal, I keep the availability of one WFH (work from home) day per week. Two months of not making goal means that goes bye-bye. I think I'm going to tell my new TL that I'm going to WFH on Mondays for the rest of the month, while I still can.

Commuting by bus in a widespread area like Metro Detroit severely affects my availability for side jobs, I think. We are almost to the time of year that will be leaving home in the morning in the dark, and doing the same on the way back home.

I received the iPod in the mail today and put it up for sale on eBay, starting bid $96: Apple iPod

Not bad for something I got for free, sincerely hoping someone wants it.

Agenda for tomorrow: call the state tax department (website says I need to file for an informal meeting,) call about one of the credit cards, and ship the mini-vac.

No surveys available on Survey Junkie. Getting the idea they're tired of me. None of the other services rewards directly to PayPal, although Swagbucks seems to come a close second. You can help a fella out by signing up here: Swagbucks

So, cheers for now!
